Development of a service strategy for a mid-sized insurer

Challenge
The mid-sized insurer aims to become a top-tier service provider. A central strategic goal to enhance service was defined, which needed to be developed into a new service strategy. To provide direction, service promises were established. However, concrete strategic elements such as action areas and measures were missing. Therefore, a strategy consulting firm was engaged to support the necessary strategy definition.
Solution Strategy
Horn & Company was commissioned to develop the service strategy for the project. To begin with, a preliminary study was conducted to identify the specific customer needs. Key action areas were derived through workshops that analyzed customer master journeys. These action areas were then integrated into the service strategy both cross-functionally and within specific business units. The action areas directly contribute to the client’s defined strategic goal and, together with the service promises, form the impact cycle of "action – effect – attitude." The business strategy aims to promote growth and enhance competitiveness within the insurance industry. Prioritized action areas were to be implemented flexibly through the development of "fast-track" initiatives. This approach supports customer satisfaction and strengthens the company’s market position.
